Aisha’s recent journey to Makkah and the performance of Hajj was the most incredible spiritual experience she could have ever imagined to encounter on this planet. It was a journey from darkness into light: This is a good metaphor for man's finite mind attempting to understand or explain that which is infinite. Spiritual light enters the inner-self. It makes us aware and conscious of the unconscious things we say and do. Muslims from all over the world, regardless of colour, nationality and status flock to the Haram, The Sacred Mosque for the ‘soul’ purpose of worshipping Allah.
Allah, who Aisha also refers to as the ‘Sublime’ is abstract. He cannot be seen, touched or heard and yet through this absence His presence was so evident. This form of ‘abstraction’ was so vast, so powerful and sublime, that spiritually she felt moved and overwhelmed.
It was after this journey to Makkah that Aisha’s work followed a path of Abstract Art, where she still continues to work on the Creation of the Universe and to express its Creator.
By experimenting and playing with colour blocks and layers of colour to represent certain aspects of the Creation of the Universe, Aisha feels that it’s not always necessary to use Arabic text in her work.
